Living in Jarrell, TX: A Local Realtor's Honest Take

Jarrell is a small town that's growing up fast. For a long time, it was mostly farmland and a quick stop on I-35 between Georgetown and Salado. Now there are new neighborhoods, new schools and a lot of new neighbors, but the town still throws a rodeo every summer with mutton bustin'. Some things don't need to change.

Jarrell sits in northern Williamson County, right on I-35. Here's what it's actually like to live here.

Jarrell Neighborhoods and Schools

Much of Jarrell's growth has come from newer master-planned communities. Sonterra, east of I-35, is the biggest, with pools, splash pads, clubhouses, playgrounds, sports courts, trails and even a pump track for bikes. Around town, you'll also find smaller neighborhoods, older homes and rural properties with acreage.

Jarrell's signature tradition is the Williamson County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo, held every June at the arena on CR 305. It's been going for more than 80 years. It's sanctioned by the Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association and features bareback and saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, bull riding, team roping, mutton bustin' for little kids, a steer saddling challenge and a dance with live music after the rodeo. If your kid has ever wanted to ride a sheep, this is their moment.
