Living in Lago Vista, TX: A Local Realtor's Honest Take
Lago Vista means "lake view," and the name is not an exaggeration. The town sits on a peninsula on the north shore of Lake Travis, with Hill Country hills rolling right down to the water. It also has its own public golf course and its own airport, which is a pretty fancy résumé for a small town.
If your idea of a great evening is watching the sunset over the lake, Lago Vista deserves a look. Here's what it's actually like to live here.
Lago Vista Neighborhoods and Schools
Lago Vista's homes are spread across hilly, winding streets, and a lot of them come with views of the lake, the golf course or the hills. You'll find everything from older lake-area homes to newer construction, plus homes near the golf course and lots with a lot of elevation change. (Your driveway may count as a workout.) Some areas have a property owners association with its own amenities, so it's worth checking what a specific home has access to.
Lago Vista has its own school district, Lago Vista ISD, which is one of the things buyers like about the town. School zones go by address, not by city name, and some homes with a Lago Vista address can be zoned differently. I'll help you check the assigned campuses for any home we look at, and you can compare ratings yourself on TXSchools.gov.
